Classical Showcase

The Schumann piano quintet is a pinnacle of the chamber-music literature. It is symphonic in scope, yet also a touching and personal testament from one of the towering composers of the romantic era. Renowned pianist Spencer Myer will join the principal string players of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Symphony for what is sure to be a memorable performance of this epic masterpiece. Also on the program will be Haydn’s beloved string quartet the “Lark,” as well as solo piano gems by Debussy and Chopin.

Beethoven Meets Jazz

This unique concert will highlight the wide-ranging skills of LSU professor Willis Delony. Joined by principal players from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Symphony, as well as a jazz rhythm section, Delony will explore the delightfully blurry lines between the sublime musical genres of jazz and classical.

Opening Night! Broadway at the Beach

Holiday Peppermint Pops

A long-standing tradition on the Gulf Coast, this festive and family oriented concert is the perfect way to launch the holiday season in style. Get in the spirit with holiday fare old and new, and revel in excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s beloved Nutcracker ballet, featuring star dancers from the Belhaven University Dance Department.

Carmina Burana

Carmina Burana is arguably the biggest block-buster ever written for the concert stage. With a huge orchestra, a 200 voice chorus, vocal soloists and a percussion battery that doesn’t quit, a live performance of this thrilling masterpiece is an over-the-top, once in a lifetime experience. Those of you who have heard our recent holiday concerts know what a treasure the Hattiesburg Choral Union is – “Carmina” is the perfect vehicle to witness their sonic power.

A Night at the Movies

Sound and action merge into one in the world of film music. Williams, Giacchino, and Silvestri carry forward that long tradition with music that – like the movies themselves – will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Rhapsody in Blue

Holiday Peppermint Pops

‘Tis the season, and nothing sets the sound of the holidays like choral music. Following their acclaimed debut with the orchestra last season, we are pleased to welcome back the USM Hattiesburg Choral Union. They will be joined by the combined choirs of MGCCC for an unforgettable celebration of “the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”
