Classical Showcase

The Schumann piano quintet is a pinnacle of the chamber-music literature. It is symphonic in scope, yet also a touching and personal testament from one of the towering composers of the romantic era. Renowned pianist Spencer Myer will join the principal string players of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Symphony for what is sure to be a memorable performance of this epic masterpiece. Also on the program will be Haydn’s beloved string quartet the “Lark,” as well as solo piano gems by Debussy and Chopin.

Beethoven Meets Jazz

This unique concert will highlight the wide-ranging skills of LSU professor Willis Delony. Joined by principal players from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Symphony, as well as a jazz rhythm section, Delony will explore the delightfully blurry lines between the sublime musical genres of jazz and classical.
